The Donald Trump-backed Freedom 250 festival lineup has dwindled down to a mere three acts, so to save the day, the President announced he will step-in and headline the event.
The Great American State Fair, presented by the Trump-founded organization Freedom 250, is set to take place from June 25 to July 10 at the National Mall. The event is described as a “once-in-a-generation celebration,” which will feature “live music, carnival rides, and dozens of hands-on partner activations, where visitors can taste, touch, and experience what makes each state and territory unique.”
Originally, the lineup was set to include nine performers, though as time went on and each artist learned of the Fair’s political affiliations, acts began to drop off the bill. Martina McBride, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, and Morris Day & The Time all said that they did not realize the event had ties to Trump. The only remaining acts left from the original lineup include Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, and Flo Rida.

Trump took to Truth Social following the cancellations and considered calling-off the event altogether. He said that he understands “artists are getting ‘the yips’ having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the world,” referencing himself. However, he added in another post that he was “ordering my Representatives to look at the feasibility” of turning the festival into a rally — instead of live music.
He referenced himself in a Truth Social post as “the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar.” Additionally, Trump said that he would “take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate “Artists,” and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!”
“We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain,” Trump wrote.

It’s also unknown if any of the musical performances planned, including Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, and Flo Rida, will still move forward. Trump called to cancel the Great American State Fair concerts, pointing to the recent judge ruling that Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center board illegally changed the venue’s name to the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.
“Cancel it,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referencing the Great American State Fair shows. “Just like I canceled my involvement with the failing and unsafe to be in Kennedy Center, because a Highly Conflicted, Crooked Federal Judge, said that I should not be allowed to spend my time and money in order to MAKE THE CENTER GREAT AGAIN, actually, for greater than it ever was before!”
An adviser for Freedom 250 confirmed to The Washington Post that Trump will now kick-off the opening event for the festival on June 24, the day before the first musical act was set to perform. No further details regarding his attendance — nor how he will be “headlining” the event — has been revealed at this time.
