Ottobock Expands Paralympic Role with Official LA28 Partnership

Ottobock has strengthened its four-decade relationship with the Paralympic Movement, securing a new role as an Official Supporter of the LA28 Paralympic Games while continuing to provide the behind-the-scenes technical services that keep athletes competing on the world’s biggest stage.

The global MedTech company has been named the Official Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Wheelchair Repair Service Provider for the LA28 Paralympic Games, formalizing a partnership that builds on nearly 40 years of providing free on-site repair and maintenance workshops for Paralympic athletes.

Since first supporting the Paralympic Games in 1988, Ottobock technicians have repaired prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs and other assistive devices during competition, helping athletes quickly return to action when equipment issues arise.

“We are proud and excited to continue our Paralympic journey in Los Angeles,” said Peter Franzel, Head of Global Events, Exhibitions & Sports at Ottobock. “For us, this partnership is about much more than technical service – it is about trust, reliability and helping athletes perform at their very best on the world’s biggest stage.”

LA28 Vice President of Paralympic Strategy and Relations and Paralympian Ileana Rodriguez said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to accessibility.

“Ottobock’s dedication to the Paralympic Movement over the past forty years makes them a natural partner for LA28,” Rodriguez said. “This partnership goes beyond technical service; it is about a mutual mission to expand access to movement for all.”

The announcement was made during Ottobock’s Full Circle Movement event at the Angel City Games in Los Angeles, where people with limb loss or limb difference had the opportunity to test prosthetic technology, participate in adaptive sports clinics and connect with the broader adaptive sports community.

Ottobock North America Executive Director of Marketing & Digital Sales Jan-Philip Rahmann said the partnership will help expand awareness and participation ahead of the 2028 Games.

“With initiatives like Full Circle Movement, including our event here in Los Angeles, we are creating spaces where people can experience what is possible, connect with others and take their first or next step in sport,” Rahmann said. “Through this partnership we can bring the message of movement for all to even more people.”

Paralympic champion Ezra Frech, an Ottobock ambassador and co-founder of Angel City Sports, said Los Angeles is well positioned to become a leading destination for adaptive sport before the Games arrive.

“Partnerships like this create visibility, opportunity and belief, helping the next generation see what they can achieve through sport,” Frech said.

The expanded agreement underscores LA28’s continued build-up of commercial partnerships as organizers prepare to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028, while reinforcing Ottobock’s long-standing role supporting Paralympic athletes through equipment repair, mobility services and adaptive sport initiatives.
