Madonna, BTS, Shakira Announced for 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show

FIFA has announced that Madonna, BTS, and Shakira will perform during the halftime show of the 2026 World Cup final, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium. The event will mark the first time a FIFA World Cup final includes a halftime performance.

The show is being curated by Chris Martin in partnership with Global Citizen, and is tied to a fundraising campaign aiming to generate $100 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The initiative focuses on expanding access to education and football programs for children globally.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 through July 19. Earlier this week, FIFA confirmed performers for opening ceremonies in each host nation, outlining a wide-ranging music program across the tournament’s opening matches.

The competition will begin June 11 in Mexico City at Estadio Azteca, where Alejandro Fernández, Maná, Lila Downs, Danny Ocean, Belinda, J Balvin, and Los Ángeles Azules are scheduled to perform.

In the United States, the national team’s opening match against Paraguay on June 12 will be preceded by performances from Katy Perry, Future, South African artist Tyla, Brazilian singer Anitta, and Rema. Perry is set to headline the ceremony in Los Angeles, with Future also slated to perform at SoFi Stadium alongside DJ Sanjoy.

Canada’s opening match will also take place June 12, with the team facing Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field. The pre-match ceremony will feature Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Vegedream, William Prince, and Sanjoy.

Notably, the halftime performers are each entering the tournament with active projects. BTS released their sixth studio album, ARIRANG, on March 20, marking their first full-length release since pausing group activities for military service. The group launched their “ARIRANG World Tour” in Goyang, South Korea, and began its U.S. leg on April 25, with additional international dates scheduled through next year.

Shakira is preparing to begin a new run of U.S. tour dates in June and has also contributed to the tournament’s official music lineup. She collaborated with Burna Boy on a track titled “Dai Dai,” set for release May 14. The song marks her second World Cup anthem, following 2010’s “Waka Waka.”

Meanwhile, Madonna is set to release her upcoming album, Confessions II, on July 3.
