Live Nation Set to Take Over Paris La Défense Arena

Live Nation has reached an agreement to acquire Paris La Défense Arena, Europe’s largest indoor venue, in a move that would significantly expand the company’s presence in the French live entertainment market.

The arena is being acquired from French investment group Ovalto for an undisclosed price. The transaction, announced Tuesday, is subject to approval by the French Competition Authority. Once completed, the deal would place one of Europe’s most prominent multipurpose venues under the ownership of the world’s largest live entertainment company.

Paris La Défense Arena, which opened in 2017, has become a central destination for large-scale international events. The venue has hosted major sporting competitions including the Olympic Games, the Tour de France and the Rolex Paris Masters, while also serving as a frequent stop for global concert tours by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Hans Zimmer and Dua Lipa.

Live Nation said the acquisition is expected to drive further investment into the arena, including a comprehensive upgrade program aimed at increasing the number of events it can host annually. According to the company, the planned improvements are designed to enhance facilities for artists, promoters and audiences while allowing the venue to accommodate more complex and large-scale productions.

“In just ten years, we have made Paris La Défense Arena a unique venue in Europe with a solid business model,” said Ovalto President Jacky Lorenzetti. “Today, a new chapter begins for the arena and its employees. Paris La Défense Arena will be able to leverage the full expertise of Live Nation, the global leader in entertainment, to continue its development.”

Live Nation France Managing Director Angelo Gopee emphasized that the company’s plans extend beyond expanding the event calendar. “Our ambition is simple: to make Paris La Défense Arena a venue that welcomes more productions, with the finest facilities for artists, all event producers and promoters and, above all, the audience,” Gopee said. “This ambition is rooted in a strong commitment to local inclusion, education and cultural access.”

Live Nation indicated that Paris La Défense Arena will continue to operate as an open venue, welcoming events promoted by a wide range of organizers. The company said increased programming capacity could create additional opportunities for touring artists and producers while reinforcing Paris’s position on the global live entertainment circuit.

Frédéric Longuépée, president of Paris La Défense Arena, said the transition represents a new growth phase for the venue. “Ovalto has created a venue that has become unique in Europe in less than ten years,” Longuépée said. “The arrival of Live Nation promises exciting new opportunities for our clients, employees and partners.”

The acquisition would place Live Nation among the major players operating top-tier venues in France, alongside facilities such as Accor Arena, LDLC Arena and Stade de France. The deal also reflects Live Nation’s broader strategy of investing in venues across Europe as competition intensifies for high-demand touring productions.

Pending regulatory approval, Live Nation said the acquisition is expected to deliver “more shows, upgraded facilities and major benefits to Paris, Île-de-France and the wider French live entertainment industry.”
